Prophy-Jet Cleanings

Dr. Subka offers Prophy-Jet, a highly effective air polishing system that combines water and baking soda to remove stains and debris from teeth.

Prophy-Jet polishing, a high-tech alternative to traditional polishing, is a soft and effective method for cleaning teeth stains causes by tobacco, tea, coffee or food. The Prophy-Jet sprays high-pressured water and baking soda to blast away soft deposits such as dental plaque.

Prophy-Jet cleaning is popular with patients because there’s no annoying sound, vibrations or aftertaste that traditional polishing paste leaves behind.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are beneficial to you and Dr. Subka. With up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays, digital radiography uses a small sensor placed in the mouth to take and relay X-rays directly to Dr. Subka’s computer, where you both can review the results. This process is also better for the environment. It doesn’t use photo chemicals and traditional film, thus eliminating waste.

Intraoral Camera

Using a pen-sized camera, Dr. Subka takes a picture of your teeth and can project the image onto a television screen in the treatment room. This image is magnified, allowing Dr. Subka to better see and detect any decay, cracked or leaking fillings or other problems. This technology enables her to diagnose and treat little problems before they become big ones, as well as share the results directly with you.

Laser-assisted Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is a common problem that affects millions of people. Left untreated, gum disease and infection can affect the health and beauty of your teeth, as well as lead to more serious health concerns like heart disease.

Dr. Subka uses advanced laser-assisted periodontal technology to gently and quickly treat gum infections and disease and restore your mouth to optimal oral health. Benefits of laser-assisted periodontal therapy include:

  • Faster healing
  • Reduced risk of infection
  • Decreased sensitivity
  • Less time in the dental chair
  • Less post-treatment discomfort

Root Canals

A root canal is a natural cavity within the center of a tooth that contains nerves and pulp. If the pulp becomes infected by an untreated cavity, a root canal procedure is performed to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. During a root canal, the tooth’s nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.

Dr. Subka is mindful of the anxiety caused by the prospect of having a root canal and offers sedation dentistry to put you at ease.

TMJ Therapy

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) is a condition that affects the jaw joint and causes it to move out of place. If you grind or clench your teeth a lot, you could develop TMJ. Emotional stress and the physical stress of nearby facial structures can also cause the condition. TMJ can be painful and frustrating.

A dental night guard is the most common treatment for TMJ. This retainer-like plastic device can be worn on your upper or lower teeth to provide a cushion and protect them from the pressure of clenching or grinding. Night guards are designed to keep your teeth in their proper position, which helps to relax the jaw muscles and relieve tension, stress and headaches. Dr. Subka will custom fit your mouth for a night guard and make it right in her office.

Please visit our Patient Education Library to learn more about TMJ.
