Frequently Asked Questions about Invisalign®

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is a revolutionary method of straightening teeth using 3-D computer imaging to create a series of custom made clear aligners that will shift your teeth little by little until you achieve a beautifully straight smile.

What do the aligners look like? What are they made of?

The clear aligners look a little like teeth whitening trays. They are made of thermoplastic material.

What are the main benefits of Invisalign®?

No one will be able to see these clear braces, you can remove them for easy eating and cleaning, and there is no sharp metal to irritate your mouth.

Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?

For the first day or two, your tongue will have to adapt to the aligners but any possible lisp should go away shortly.

Can I smoke when wearing my aligners?

It is not recommended due to staining.

Will Invisalign® treatment hurt?

You might experience some pressure and discomfort in the first day or two of each new set. This is a good sign that Invisalign® is effectively moving your teeth.

How often will I have to see Dr. Subka while wearing my aligners?

Dr. Subka will let you know but usually once every six to eight weeks.

How long will treatment take?

Dr. Subka will inform you of treatment length. However, the average treatment takes about 12 months.
