Laser Gum Surgery vs. Osseous Surgery
Today’s innovative laser technologies allow us to eradicate infection in the mouth without making a single incision. Unlike osseous surgery which involves cutting the gums to gain access to the pockets around the teeth, the laser procedure involves passing the laser over the gums to kill only bacteria. This does not require any cutting of the tissues and there are no sutures involved. The gums heal naturally and relatively quickly, compared to osseous surgery.
A Minimally-Invasive Alternative
Gum Disease is a progressive condition, which is why we encourage patients to seek treatment as soon as any symptoms present themselves. This will help stop the infection from progressing and reduce the risk of irreversible damage to the gums and supporting structures. Many patients are concerned about invasive surgery to eliminate harmful bacteria, but we offer laser gum surgery as a minimally-invasive alternative.
